Whats the fith angle?
It's the greek, architectural term for the little storage room located on the average athenian apartment building.
The book covers the athenian rooftop landscape away from commercial images like rooftop bars or bullshit hotels.
It creates a contrary perspective to the common image of this city. Normally streets are packed with people. Kinda touristic. It's noisy, lively, full of cars.
The terraces offer a rare loneliness and endless individual perspectives of the city. Wherever you arrive at the last floor it's a kaleidoscopic phenomenon happening. Bingo!
It is a manifest of a strong and growing friendship between the authors and their common passion for the exploration of athenian buildings with their endless elevators, staircases reaching from neoclassical to early 90s social project building styles reaching up to 25 floors.
The book is uniquely drifting between architectural interst with the perspective of the flaneur, connected with the mindset of the hustler. Not knowing what exactly to search for but once the eye caught a location of interest definetely knowing how to gain access. If the time is right and the spot makes sense - the authors would write their name right beneath the clouds while bending down and naively splattering it across the fassade. Here and their they would come across a location that allows to stand upright and create a 5-10 meter mixed media painting.
